Lab Diamonds
About Lab Grown Diamonds
Lab grown diamonds are chemically, physically and visually the same as mined diamonds. They are not to be confused with diamond alternatives such as cubic zirconia or moissanite. As the name suggests, lab grown diamonds are grown in lab using one of two methods: high pressure, high temperature or chemical vapor deposition. Since they are grown in a lab, lab grown diamonds are much more affordable than natural mined diamonds. This allows people to save money or opt for a larger, higher quality diamond. Just like natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds come in many different shapes and sizes and are graded using the same 4C’s.
How Are Lab Grown Diamonds Made

This methods seeks to mimic the process that natural diamonds undergo by using high pressure and high temperature to grow a diamond.
A diamond seed is placed in a chamber. and the growth chamber is heated to 1300 - 1600 degrees C with pressures rising above 870,000 pounds per square inch.
Molten metal dissolves a high purity carbon source, carbon atoms from the carbon source precipitate and attach to the diamond seed and a synthetic diamond begins to grow.
This methods involves creating the diamond layer by layer, similar to a 3D printer.
Diamond seed crystal are placed in a diamond growth chamber and the chamber is filled with a carbon containing gas and heater to 900 - 1200 degree C.
A microwave beam causes carbon atoms to precipitate out of the gas and deposit onto the seed crystals.
Often times the crystals need cleaned from black graphite through the process which results in a layer-by-layer growth process

Economical Lab Diamonds
While natural diamond mining conditions and practices have drastically improved over the last few decades, lab grown diamonds have no impact on the environment.
Thus lab grown diamonds can be perfect choice for those seeking to make an eco friendly purchase.
Yadav's Lab Grown Diamonds
We’ve taken decades of experience and non-compromising focus on quality for natural diamonds and carried that over to lab grown diamonds. We understand that quality does not end at the 4C’s and each diamond must inspect separate from its grading report. Each diamond that enters our showroom is indiscriminately inspected for any undesirable characteristics that can arise from the growth process and disregarded if our standards are not met.
Lab Grown Diamonds Frequent Questions
In most cases, it is not possible to tell if a diamond is lab-grown or natural just by looking at it with the naked eye. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds, so they will look and feel the same to the naked eye. The only way to determine if a diamond is lab-grown or natural is by using specialized equipment or by obtaining a certification or grading report from a reputable gemological laboratory. It is important to note that even with specialized equipment, it can be difficult to tell the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds, so it is always best to rely on a reputable certification or grading report.
Unlike diamond alternatives such as cubic zirconia or moissanite, lab grown diamonds are real diamonds. They share the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds.
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds, so they will last just as long as natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds are made up of the same material as natural diamonds, which is pure carbon that has been subjected to extreme heat and pressure over millions of years. This process creates a diamond that is extremely hard and durable, and can last for thousands of years without deteriorating. Therefore, lab-grown diamonds will last just as long as natural diamonds, provided they are properly cared for and maintained.
Yes, a lab grown diamond will register as a diamond to a diamond tester.
Yes, GIA grades lab grown diamonds.
A moissanite is not a lab grown diamond. While moissanites are considered a diamond alternative they cannot be considered a diamond since their chemical and physical properties are very different. On the other hand, lab grown diamonds share the same chemical and physical properties as a diamond and therefore are a diamond.
-
Lab-grown diamonds can be identified by a laser inscription on the diamond's girdle, which is the narrow edge that separates the crown (the top part of the diamond) from the pavilion (the bottom part of the diamond). The inscription will typically include the words "laboratory grown" or "lab grown" and a unique identification number.
-
Lab-grown diamonds can also be identified by a certificate or grading report from a reputable gemological laboratory, such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the International Gemological Institute (IGI). These reports will typically indicate whether the diamond is lab-grown or natural.
-
Another way to tell if a diamond is lab-grown is by its price. Lab-grown diamonds are typically more affordable than natural diamonds, so if the price seems too good to be true, it may be a lab-grown diamond.
-
Another way to tell if a diamond is lab-grown is by its color. Lab-grown diamonds can be produced in a wide range of colors, including fancy colors like pink and blue, which are very rare in natural diamonds.
-
Finally, lab-grown diamonds can be identified by a trained gemologist using specialized equipment, such as a microscope or spectroscope. These tools can help a gemologist determine the origin and characteristics of a diamond with a high degree of accuracy.
Yes, lab grown diamonds can have inclusions. Lab grown diamonds acquire inclusions that result from the growing process.
As is, lab grown diamonds are not marked. However, after a lab grown diamond is certified, it is inscribed with an inscription that identifies it as a lab grown diamond.
Since lab grown diamonds are physically and visually the same as natural diamonds, a jeweler cannot tell the difference between the two.
Yes, a lab grown diamond can be insured just as a natural diamond can be insured.
Yes, lab grown diamonds last forever. Lab grown diamonds will not deteriorate overtime, nor will they change colors or gain imperfections overtime.
Lab grown diamonds have the same visual and physical properties as natural diamonds, thus they do not look different.
Lab grown diamonds are certified by both GIA and IGI.
In general lab grown diamonds will not become cloudy overtime. This is not to be confused with the cloudiness they can retain from lotions, soaps and sanitizers.
Lab grown diamonds are appraised by their 4C’s just as natural diamonds are. The higher a diamond is rated on color, cut, clarity and carat weight, the higher it’s appraised value will be.
